When life starts to move a bit too fast, has it ever felt like your body can’t catch up to your mind or your schedule? Maybe you feel wobbly and scattered, trying to manage too many things, quickly switching context from one activity to the other.
Quite often these are the moments you might abandon your writing or journaling practice. Ironically, this is when your writing can help you the most.
When these times come, I try to remember to breathe, slow down, and bring more presence to the day and the week. I try to pick up the journal, even if it’s just for five minutes at a time. I go back to the basics of just moving the pen across the page with a familiar writing prompt that soothes my dysregulated nervous system:
What needs befriending today?
Is it possible to slow down today, or this week?
Where is the light starting to creep in?
How would it feel to take exquisite care of yourself today?
Whether you need them today or they come in handy in the future, I wanted to share these prompts with you. I’d love to know which one resonates most with you?
