Writing Workshop: Start Your Book in 2025
A 2-hour virtual workshop on Friday, January 31st for nonfiction authors.
A box filled with copies of my most recent book, Harvesting Wild Light, just showed up on my doorstep yesterday. It is the most magical feeling to know my words have been transformed by sweat and alchemy into a real, live book I can hold in my hands. A book I can bring to a retreat, mail to a friend, or tuck into a Little Free Library.
This feeling of being a published author is something I could never have predicted would be so spiritually nourishing and creatively uplifting. Well, perhaps 17 year-old Leah had some idea, as she toiled over handmade zines made on the school office copy machine.
But this is better! The world of author-owned publishing has made writing and publishing books accessible to all of us in an entirely thrilling way. Which means that you can experience this exact same feeling of opening up a box to reveal a stack of freshly printed books that have your words and your name on them. Though perhaps the real magic is that they will be infused with your energy, love, and generosity as you put something thoughtful and beautiful out into the world.
I haven’t opened the doors on any kind of group writing workshop in quite some time, but the time feels deeply right to do it again.
On Friday, January 31st, I’m hosting a 2-hour writing immersion specifically geared towards jumpstarting, restarting, or exploring your book-writing dreams for 20205.
This is a virtual group writing workshop, with a limit of 20 participants. We gather online from 10am - 12pm Eastern time via Zoom. While there will be space for generative writing and reflection, the core aim of this immersion is to dig into these key topics:
How to write your Book Vision statement
Strategies to identify your ideal reader community
Clearing the creative roadblocks preventing you from writing
Three mindset shifts to experience more pleasure in your writing
An outline template for transformational nonfiction books
Registration details, bits & bobs:
The workshop fee is $85 through this calendar scheduling link.
Attendance live is highly encouraged, but a recording will be provided.
This is ideally suited for authors of nonfiction (self-help, ethical business, healing modalities, and prescriptive memoir are my specific genres of expertise.)
If we haven’t worked together before or you have any questions, please feel free to send me a message or email hello@leahcherrykent.com
What I can promise from experience with both clients and my own practice, is that dedicating two hours to build a relationship with the heart, soul, and energy of your book will help your creativity unfurl in delicious and unexpected ways.
Anytime a group of tender-hearted and kindred spirits come together in this way, magic shows up to support us. So consider this a safe harbor for your dreams and ideas. A sacred fire that has the capacity to hold space for your most potent voice of clarity and wild self-expression.
I am truly delighted about this sweet immersion and hope to see lots of you there!
